title: About IAP

The Information Age Partnership was established by the DTI in 1998, to be an action oriented forum for Government Ministers and senior figures in the UK's IT, Electronics, Communications and Content (ITEC) companies. The Partnership is regarded as the key forum across Whitehall for dialogue with the IT, electronics and communications sectors. As such it makes contributions to Government initiatives and policy priorities combining long-term thinking with a focus on short-term deliverables.

The Partnership

The Partnership engages around 40 Chief Executive Officers from across the UK's ITEC industries, as well as key representative organisations, such as the CBI, and major trade bodies, such as Intellect and the Digital Content Forum (DCF). It meets twice a year as a full Partnership. The Partnership is chaired by a Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Minister.

The Executive

An Executive committee supports the full Partnership. This consists of approximately 20 companies and intermediaries from industry. It is chaired by a senior industry figure, currently Duncan Mitchell, (MD Cisco Systems, UK and Ireland). The Executive is the body through which the majority of the Partnership's work is achieved, primarily through a group of Workstreams which deal with topics that are close to both Government policy and industry priorities.

Current Workstreams are detailed in the Workstream section. Previous Workstreams have included:

  • Digital Strategy
  • i2010 - EU Action
  • ICT and Productivity
  • Towards 2012

Reports from the previous Workstreams can be downloaded from the Archive section
