The environment is a key issue for citizens and businesses alike. In particular, there is pressure on industry to reduce its carbon footprint in line with the Government’s announced targets. ICT is a contributor to the problem of climate change but those working in the sector are keen to offer solutions not only to reduce their own carbon footprint but also that of other sectors.

The Information Age Partnership’s ICT and Environment Working Group was set up to:

• Bring together industry and Government interests on ICT and the environment with particular focus on climate change issues.
• Communicate current industry and Government endeavours as well as best practice on both Government policy and industry activity between parties and to outside interests.
• Identify and build on UK strengths and opportunities to maintain UK competitiveness.
• Identify future innovation enablers and requirements.
